An exhibition of Taohuawu woodcut prints, typically made with traditional techniques for use as decorations for the Chinese New Year, opened at Younan Art Gallery in SIP on Dec 12, and will last till Feb 28, 2026.

The exhibits are all from Qiao Mai, an expert in Suzhou-style woodcut prints and a main inheritor of the traditional techniques of making Taohuawu New Year woodcut prints.

The exhibition shows traditional aesthetics from a contemporary perspective. One of its highlights is focus on letter writing as a subtle yet powerful way of discovering inner peace and purity.

There is an interaction zone on site, where visitors can touch the patterns carved on woodblocks for printing pictures, and write a letter to express their thoughts and emotions.
