The 7th “Dongfang Huihu Cup” College Students’ Modern Drama Competition, which kicked off in autumn, wrapped up at Dushu Lake Theater, SIP on Dec 5.

Sponsored by the Administrative Committee of Suzhou Dushu Lake Sci-Edu Innovation District, and organized by Dushu Lake Culture and Sports Development Co Ltd, the event was aimed at offering college students a chance to showcase their talents in drama and giving them support in improving their performing skills.

The event attracted many drama clubs from universities and colleges that produced and performed plays attracting about 5,000 audiences.

At the award ceremony, the troupes from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Suzhou University of Science and Technology (SUST), Soochow University and other schools received awards.

After the award ceremony, the Dongwu Drama Club from Soochow University staged two classic short dramas, and the Lakeside Drama Club from Suzhou Art & Design Technology Institute performed their original work that reflects contemporary youth’s growth and mindset.

Juchuang 1908, a team engaged in exploring possibilities for integration of drama and Suzhou’s culture, staged a show about Suzhou-style embroidery, showing the charm of traditional culture and forging a soulful connection among the youth.
